Lawrence Wayne Ravellette Obituary

Lawrence Wayne Ravellette, age 80, of Evansville, IN, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville.

Wayne was born February 8, 1944, in Vincennes, IN, to the late Badlet Ravellette and Helen (DeWitt) Snyder. He attended Central High School and loved learning, studying all he could, anything he could. Wayne was a United States Navy Veteran working in Aviation during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of Bethel Community Church where he served as a Deacon and lead Pledges during Sunday School.

Wayne worked with Sheet Metal, was an Estimator, and taught Building Codes at Ivy Tech. Wayne was the City Inspector in Heating and Air. He was the past Master of the Reed Masonic Lodge 316, member of the Scottish Rite, and member of the Hadi Shrine Temple. He was in the Legion of Honor, served in Transportation with the Hadi Shrine Hospital, was on the Board of the Hadi Shrine Circus, and was Head of Line at York Rite. Wayne had a servant’s heart with a passion for kids and families in need.

Wayne enjoyed carpentry, being outdoors, working on cars, fishing, and working in his yard. He loved his family, traveling with Linda, and he especially loved spending time with this grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda (Taylor) Ravellette; daughters, Yvette Walts (Mark) and Yvonne Powell (Jerry); grandchildren, Hadley Walts, Kamron Burch (Sara), Colton Powell and Dylan Powell (Tiffani); great grandchildren, Lilly, Avery, Shiloh, Parker, Eli, Connor, Shirley, and Charlotte; and several half-sisters and half-brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Pastor Dave Schwambach officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will perform military rites.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, with a Hadi Shrine walk-through at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, with a Reed Masonic Lodge Service to follow. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, March 22, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
