John E. Reiplinger, 81, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, after a sudden illness.
John was born September 22, 1942, in Ottawa, IL, to Edward J. and Dorothy E. (Stephan) Reiplinger. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1960 and studied Business/Economics and Broadcasting at St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN. John served in the Illinois National Guard, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Auxiliary, Indiana Broadcasters Association, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and Annunciation Parish. He enjoyed a successful career in broadcast media on and off the air at WCMY, WLBK, WLW, KQKQ, WAZ, WIKY, WGBF, and WYNG. He retired in 2013 from Alvey’s Signs.
Active all his life, he enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, grilling, and photography. He also enjoyed watching drum and bugle corps marching bands, his pet dogs, any sport his children or grandchildren played, the Cincinnati REDS, and of course THE CINCINNATI BENGALS -- WHO DEY!
John is survived by his sister, D’Ann Hamilton-White (Robert); daughter, Lori Lyn DiBisceglie (Frank); stepdaughter, Julianna Derrington; stepson, Rick Wilson (Sheila); and grandchildren, Jesse Derrington (Alicia); Mia DiBisceglie, Gretchen Wilson, Chloe DiBisceglie, and Audrey Wilson.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Barbara Ann Quantock; and his loving wife of 37 years, Sylvia “June” (Lewis) Reiplinger, who passed away in 2016.
Friends may visit from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. CT, Friday, March 22, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
Also, visitation from noon until the 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 23, at Annunciation Catholic Parish – Holy Spirit Church, 1800 Lodge Avenue, Evansville, with Father Benny Chacko officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will render military rites.
