David M. Willis

David Willis, age 84, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 1:08 a.m. on March 3, 2024, at Heart to Heart Hospice.
David was born January 24, 1940, in Evansville, IN, to Lawrence and Elsa (Fisher) Willis. He graduated from North High School in 1958. David worked as a butcher at Wesselman’s and Economy Food Centers in Evansville. He graded meat for the U.S.D.A. for military use and government purchases. David retired from T.J.Maxx after 24 years. For 25 years, he drove seeing and hearing-impaired children back and forth to Indianapolis for schooling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger. David attended Church of the Cross.

David is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ruth (Welty); daughters, Kathi Rougan, Krista Libbert (Kerry), Kerri Willis (Matthew Budzik), Deborah Nolan (Bill) and Rebecca “Becky” Hayes, (Doug) ;9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Gary and Larry Willis; and sisters, Deborah Willis and Beverly Scott.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Jack Eberhardt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2024, with Newburgh Masonic Lodge #174conducting a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
