Nina K. Haskins

Nina K. Haskins, 67, of Evansville ended her earthly journey and arrived in the heavenly Father’s glory on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

Nina was born July 18, 1944 in West Frankfort, Illinois the daughter of Vernie and Marguerite (Welton) Rhoads. Surviving her is her husband, Carlos Haskins, two daughters and sons-in-law Holly Cox Smith and Travis Smith and Rachel Haskins Shively and Brad Shively, and two grandchildren, Michael and Keira Shively.

She is also survived by a large and loving family, Kermit and Barbara Hurley, Michael and Elizabeth Dunlap, Larry and Linda Rhoads, Rod and Sandy Haskins, Brad Haskins, Nancy Allen and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Brenda Rhoads.

Nina enjoyed a fulfilling and varied career that was a great source of pride. She spent many years in local politics and served on many victorious campaigns, to include several congressional campaigns for the Eighth District of Indiana for Joel Deckard. She devoted many years to effective property management and excelled in property sales. She was a successful businesswoman, at one time owning and operating three nationally known franchises. She was responsible for grand opening Marriott’s Residence Inn in Evansville and provided the leadership to garner that location national recognition.

A Service of witness to the resurrection will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Don Bernhardt officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 pm until 7 pm, Friday, June 8, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Home, Pathways Unit II, 601 N. Boeke Rd., Evansville, IN 47711.

When storm clouds like sea billows roll, whatever my lot God has taught me to say, it is well. It is well with my soul.
