Naomi E. (Owens) Johnson

Naomi E. Owens Johnson, 86, of Evansville, passed away at 3:45 am, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Naomi was born July 16, 1925 in Hancock County, Kentucky the daughter of Chester and Alma (Anderson) Matthews. She was a member of Fordsville Kentucky Baptist Church and of Newburgh United Methodist Church. Naomi had worked as a cashier at Wesselman’s Grocery Store in Lawndale Center and at Key Market in Newburgh.

She is survived by: Daughters, Judy Barnett (Jerry) and Glenda Webb (Phil), all of Newburgh, IN Son, Larry Owens (Kathy) of Newburgh, IN Step Daughters, Judy Kuhlenschmidt (Herb) of Elberfeld, IN and Kathy Nichols of El Paso, TX Sisters, Linda Carden and Barbara Richards, both of Philpot, KY Sister in Law, Fay Matthews of Kentucky Grandchildren, Zach Owens, Andrea Hamby, Andy Webb, Tim Webb, Larry Webb, April Tate, Jeff Barnett, Julie Kough and Jenny Dugan 19 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 31 years, Willard Johnson in 2000, son, Buford Owens, sisters, Betty Newton and Runelle McBride and brother, James Matthews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Friday, April 20, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend David Schwambach officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from 9 am until time of service at 10 am, Friday.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
